Wagga Wagga was first incorporated as the Borough of Wagga Wagga on 15 March 1870

• The name 'Wagga' is derived from the local Wiradjuri Aboriginal language and is widely accepted that 'Wagga' means 'crow'.
• The region is one of the largest Merino sheep and wool producer in the country.
