I jumped in the motorcar and traveled 107 miles (173 kilometers) North of Boise to the town of McCall. |
July 8th, 2000 It takes 2 hours on a good Summers day to do the journey, but at least 3 hours in Winter to do the same trip. |
McCall was named after Tom McCall and a group of homesteader families who arrived in the area in about 1891. |
When the group first saw the frozen, snow-covered Payette Lake, they thought it was a huge meadow. Imagine their surprise when the lake surfaced! |
McCall has evolved as a getaway for the folks from Boise. |
Two of my good friends, Blouse (Tom) & MJ (Mary Jo), have this "cabin" not even 2 minutes from the Payette Lake. |
The front of the house with it's huge porch. |
Up the side of the house ..... |
..... to the back. |
Around the back to the side entrance of the front porch. |
On the front porch you can see the log cabin next door or ..... |
..... back down the driveway. |
The house is surrounded by trees and foliage. |
Imagine how all this will look in the winter. |
Tom & Mary Jo's 3 year old son Cameron. |
On the back porch is a great 6 man hot tub. |
We went up for the weekend to install some trim work and this, by far, is the best way to finish the day. |
Sitting in the hot tub with a ice cold beer in the middle of a forest. What more could you want? |
Hopefully all those bubble aren't coming from Tom! |
The view for the lounge room looking doe towards the front driveway. |
From the lounge to the dining room/kitchen. |
MJ keeping up with Cameron. |
I'll try and get a better panorama shot in the future. |
