1 Originally designed to be a legislative chamber, the first stone of the Monumento a la Revolución (Monument to the Revolution) on Plaza de la República was laid in 1910 during the centennial celebrations of Independence.
2 Political upheaval, civil unrest and the assisnantion in 1913 of the new President - Francisco I. Madero, saw the project cancelled and abandoned for more than twenty years, after which works recommenced and subsequently completed in 1938.
