MELBOURNE ~ The Ashes @ The MCG (Victoria, AUS)

TODAYS MILEAGE – 5 miles or 8 kilometres

Day 1 of the "Boxing Day Test", at the "MCG", with ya mates, watching the Aussie's getting stuck into the Poms ..... can't get much better than that.
"Karlie Schmidt" and I met "Ashley Gibson", his wife "Kalindi" and her family who came over from New Zealand, outside Gate 4 and were seated in the shade at the "Square Leg" boundary, prior to the first ball being bowled in the 3rd Test.
Today was one of those 'tick off a Bucket List item' kind of day. Arguably the oldest rivalry in sport is between the respective Australia and England teams, in the Test Match format of cricket - we simply know it as The Ashes and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We left the cricket about ½ an hour before "stumps" and both Karlie and I commented, that although the crowd starting to get messy at the end of days play, it had been a great day and not boring at all. We both thought we'd struggle just sitting there watching ball after ball, but the crowd made the day as they were entertaining, engaging and downright hilarious at times.
