 1 One of the more unusual sights I've visited - Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones) in Évora, Portugal. During the 16th Century, the graveyards in Évora were overcrowded, so bones were exhumed to make way for new bodies to be buried. Over 5000 bones were respectfully cast into the cement and housed in this place of worship. The exhumation aligned with the common beliefs of the era and followed the Counter-Reformation ideology that the bodies would be closer to God.  2 Wandering around places at 5 o'clock in the morning has its benefits - I had Praça do Comércio (Palace Yard) and the Estátua de Dom José I (King Jose I Statue) to myself, as there were no people around first thing on a Sunday morning. |
 3 Originally built for the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929, the Plaza de España (Spain Square) is an impressive piece of architecture that you need to visit yourself in order to take in all of its grandeur. |

 5 In honour of Valentines Day, I thought I'd share with you the "Locks of Love" project just outside Lisbon in Portugal. Pay 3 or 4 euro for a small padlock and a metal heart to inscribe what you will and then lock to a metal skeletal frame.
