TRIP MILEAGE – 10450 miles or 16818 kilometres
Officially the first actual day of exploring South America, which as it turned out, was the longest and most gruelling of the entire trip.
It started at 3AM with us all heading out to the airport in Lima and finished mid-evening in Cusco in a state of near exhaustion from the combined effects altitude, dehydration, hunger and tiredness.
Having said that, it was an amazing day which more than made up for the negatives.
