TRIP MILEAGE – 1134 miles or 1825 kilometres
Off to Josh & Sianne's in Tweed Heads.
The day dawned with overcast skies and drizzling rain, but that didn't stop us from going out for breakfast with Frankie and her daughter Maddie. We loaded up the ute and pointed it South to the Queensland/New South Wales border.
Jungle and his missus Yvonne asked me about what clothing to bring on their trip, seeing as were headed into summer. I said they'd best leave the winter woollies at home – boy was I wrong. The more we've headed South the colder and rainier it was getting ..... so much for Australia being the "Sunburnt Country"!!!
We stopped on the way at the Ettamogah Pub, inspired by Ken Maynard's cartoons of the Kelly Gang, which ran in the Australasian Post magazine from 1966 to 1998.
Lunch was a quick stop at the locally famous Yatala Pies and then onto Tweed Heads South to stay with some more of my "Alice Springs family" Josh & Sianne.
