Due to the fact that the tour guide promised us a late lunch, we stopped to stretch our legs at El Árbol del Tule (Tule tree), which is located in the church grounds in the town centre of Santa María del Tule.
The trunk measures out at a circumference of 42 metres (139 feet), equating to a diameter of 14.05 metres (46.1 feet) and the tree tops out at a height of 43 metres (141 feet). The age of tree is scientifically estimated at 1,433-1,600 years old, based on growth rates.
