An hour and half northeast of Mexico City is the town of San Martin de las Piramides, where we ended up stopping at Artesanias Premier, which I would normally label as a typical "craft, trinket & souvenir" stop you can find near any tourist attraction around the world.
What made this stop unique was the local host – Jesus who provided an interesting, informative and educational presentation as to how important the cactus was to the original settlers, as well as the numerous uses of the plant in their everyday lives.
His efforts in having us comparing Mezcal to Tequila may have also played a considerable part in holding my attention during the visit???
