On the north side of Dunedin, you can find what the Guinness World Records has recognized as the World's Steepest Residential Street - Baldwin Street.
How steep do you ask??? The 350 metre (1,150 foot) street has a 161.2-metre-long (529 foot) top section that climbs 47.2 metres (155 feet) vertically, an average gradient of 1:3.41. At its maximum, about 70 metres (230 feet) from the top, the slope of Baldwin Street is about 1:2.86 (19° or 35%). That is, for every 2.86 metres travelled horizontally, the elevation changes by 1 metre.
