DAY 5a

YARRAWALLA ~ Schmidt's Sheep Station (Victoria, AUS)

Sunday December 24th, 2017

TODAYS MILEAGE – 31 miles or 50 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 1,710 miles or 2,752 kilometres

I got up just before dawn at Karlie Schmidt's family sheep property in Yarrawalla, just outside Pyramid Hill and spent the best part of 2 hours just wandering around with my camera.

Of inteterest to me was how an American style Craftsman home came to be located in the somewhat isolated area of northern Victoria. The answer lies with Karlie's predecessors I feel.

Karlie's dad and myself went out on a stock inspection lap of the property, before Karlie and I drove into town to grab some gear for Christmas lunch tomorrow. As with any small town, we managed to have a bit of a 'chinwag' with some of Karlie's friends & relatives before heading back to park up on a comfy chair with a good book and a beverage or two.

A late afternoon phone call saw us over at an adjacent neighbours property, rounding up their ducks and chooks for the night, thus preventing a fox buffet of sorts.
