DAY 4i
SIMON'S TOWN ~ Boulders African Penguin Colony (Western Cape, ZAF)
Monday November 14th, 2016
TODAYS MILEAGE – 96 miles or 155 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 13027 miles or 20965 kilometres
Simon's Town is located on shores of False Bay, on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula and is home to the South African Navy.
Since 1985, a colony of African penguins has taken up permanent residence at Boulders Beach since 1985, which is unusual as there is no record of the birds having lived here prior to that date. For the record, there are only three penguin populations on the mainland in southern Africa; the others are close to Hermanus at Stoney Point and Betty's Bay.
