HAWERA ~ Tawhiti Museum (Taranaki, New Zealand)
Greeting & Salutations Culture Vultures,
Today was bit of a free day as we had a couple of days break, before attending our next world cup match in Rotorua.
We departed New Plymouth and meandered down into the Taranaki regions second largest town of Hawera. We heard about the Tawhiti Museum, which was also recommended by a couple of Mugsy's mates, so we pulled up for a while and I thoroughly recommend you doing the same if you're in the area.
The rest of the crew decided to spend the afternoon checking out Wanganui, while I tagged along while Marie and Roscoe to check out his old stomping grounds of Bulls and Fielding.
We pulled up at one of Roscoes mates place, who just so happens to do his own butchering and smallgoods. I was offered a taste of his deer meat salami and fair dinkum, it was the best salami I'd ever had. I ended up buying ½ a dozen sticks for the road and really couldn't see them lasting long at our established pre-dinner nibbles & drinks.
Dinner that night was held at the Red Lion Inn in Wanganui, as our group had near tripled in size. It looked like the mates and family of Roscoe, Marie and Mugsy had heard they were in town and came down to say G'day.
