Day 3 of the 2008 Culture Vulture Tour.
Seeing as most of our fellow Alice Springs Dingoes were still in transit, Jungle an myself headed out from our hotel and availed ourselves of the local transportation services by hopping on a bus into town. As you can see by with the photos, most of the day was an overcast affair, but the threatening rain held off for the most part.
Most of our sightseeing was spent around the centre of Edinburgh, with a walk along the Royal Mile up to Edinburgh Castle.
The saying that it's a small world was bourne out yet again, when we ran into Big Kev Griggs and his brilliant bride Brenda just strolling along the Royal Mile. I met Big Kev while playing rugby in the U.S. and he was refereeing in the tournaments we partook upon.
The hardest part of the day, for me, was trying to stand up on my own two feet. Three times I ended up on my arse – once while falling down some of the 287 stairs that make up the Scott Monument, and the other two times while walking the cobblestone streets.
Funny story while climbing (or falling) down the Scott Monument. As we were descending the middle level of the monument, on barely single–person wide stairs, a lady in her 60's was climbing up. As we approched, I was looking down at her and her eyes were directly at my crotch level. The lady then says "My, you're a big boy then". My response was ""Why thank you ma'am". The lady blushed bright red and we all had a good chuckle while we shimmied past eash other.
