Back to the United States of A miracle!!!

Over the years I've got a lot of emails asking just how long does it take to get from Australia to the United State from go to whoa. What I'm going to do here is to outline precisely what is involved both logistically and physically in heading from Philthy & Jodi's place in Terranora (New South Wales, Australia) to Mike & Bekah's abode in Dallas (Texas, USA).

Over the years I have travelled across the pond (Pacific Ocean), I think this trip is number 20, with a number of carriers including Northwest Airlines (my very first trip), United Airlines (predominately used), Singapore Airlines (just the once) and Air New Zealand (the last 4 trips). The best carrier for service was Singapore by far and I prefer to use New Zealand as their cabin crew are way more friendlier than the old battle axes on United.

As a rule of thumb, I do not sleep the night prior to departure. I prefer to stay awake until the aircraft has been in the air for at least 3 hours. This is for a couple of reasons. One is that it helps me re-adjust to my US sleep pattern and second reason is that I can actually get some semblance of sleep on the plane, as I am simply too exhausted to stay awake.
