TRIP MILEAGE – 27234 miles or 43829 kilometres

Heading South down the East coast!!

After almost two weeks of enjoying the generous hospitality of Fluxy and Sonia in Townsville (QLD, Australia), it was time to jump on the big tin crow and head South for about 692 miles or 1114 kilometres and on into Brisbane (QLD, Australia), the state capitol of Queensland

There was only one reason to spend Saturday night in "Bris–Vegas" (as the locals call it), and that's because Philthy scored a couple of tickets to Game 6 of the Gillette Tri–Nations between the Poms and the Aussies at Suncorp Stadium

All 44,358 of us were part of the largest attended Rugby League Test Test match since the 3rd Test of the 1974 Ashes series. The atmosphere would have to be one of the best I have ever experienced at any sporting event and I've attended a few over the years.

Both Philthy and myself thoroughly enjoyed the match (a) because we beat the Poms 33–10, thus eliminating them from the Tri–Nations, but (b) the Aussies now take on the Kiwis in the final next Saturday night, which also just so happens to be my 40th birthday.

As a side note – Cricket Australia has been all over the news going on about all the security measures they've put in place for the entire 5 days of First Test of the Ashes between us and the Poms at the Brisbane (QLD, Australia) Cricket Ground at Woolloongabba, known to all of us as simply The 'Gabba. In their infinite wisdom they're banning any kind of back packs, inflatable beach balls, flags and banners bigger than a postage stamp, Mexican crowd waves and "racially disparaging remarks" i.e. calling someone a Pommy bastard.

What a load of bullshit. Tonight's crowd proved that we all can get along no worries and be one eyed supporters of our respective countries at the same time. Is it simply a case of political correctness gone mad??? Play the game and not the politics – after all, it's called a SPORT for a reason.
