How do you take your mind off a serious neck injury??? Read on!!!
Saturday, for me started of really well. We, as in Fluxy, Tom and myself, got the ball rolling by punching a few holes from the upstairs TV room to the closet of the downstairs bedroom. This was a bit tricky as we had to get around an 8 inch steel beam. It took a little time, but in the end we got the voice, data and TV cable to the downstairs.
From there we had to go up into the attic and run the same cabling to the Master bedroom and the Office area. I was nudging an inch and a half spade bit up through the header of the lounge room wall and it jammed on something. The drill kicked and twisted somehow and the next thing I know I have a gaping wound on the palm of my left hand where the thumb joins the hand.
I can see straight to the bone of the thumb and claret starts to flow profusely from the gaping hole. I head downstairs and 'ol Fluxy Nightingale whips out a first aid kit that would do an Operating Room proud and proceeds to patch me up.
We get over to the Townsville Hospital around 9:30AM and get back to the house around 2:00PM with 12 stitches closing the wound. Rather than take it any easier, I hop back in and help finish stud the walls with Fluxy and Tom.
That evening, Fluxy and Sonia had a few mates over for a few beers and a feed before watching the Kiwis absolutely hammer the Poms in the Gillette Tri–Nations Test match at the Cake Tin in Wellington, New Zealand.
I awoke Sunday with a throbbing hand, but no dramas. After a great bacon & egg brekky Fluxy, Tom and myself got stuck into putting up the tongue & groove wall paneling they had picked out in keeping the look and style of the house.
In the end, we were all ended up in the pool participating in some rehydration exercises and what a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Oops, I think I missed church...... again!!!
