The Griswold's are at it again!!!
From when I first met my ex-wife Ruth, I nicknamed her family The Griswold's as they've always seemed to have the reverse Midas Touch, in that anything can usually turn to shit if one or more of them are involved. Why would this week be any different???
Bekah is hobbling around with a soft cast on her foot after running herself over with her car. As it turns out, she got home and got out of the car to get the kids out of their car seats. While doing so, the car rolled forward over her foot causing a whole heap of soft tissue damage. Luckily no one was seriously hurt with major damage done to Bekah's pride.
Yeah I know it's not polite to make fun of someone's misfortune, but laughing at family members really doesn't come under that rule does it???
You know, I've heard of foot brakes but I'm thinking that's going a bit far Bekah!!!
I was headed over to the other side of Dallas to on the Harley for lunch with a mate of mine when all of a sudden my left foot hits the freeway at over 70 miles an hour. I look down and there was nothing but fresh air where the foot peg used to be, it had broken off. Wow!!!
After lunch at a Brasilian cafe, I head over to Harley Davidson of Dallas Texas and explain the situation to one of the fellas on the parts counter. No questions asked or anything, Eddie Perry (the parts manager) comes out, sizes up the situation and bones out a few parts and I'm on my way with a new left foot peg. Awesome service and support considering that I didn't buy the pegs from them.
Dinner was spent at the Ranchman Cafe which is a steakhouse in Ponder (Texas) where Mike and Bek had their rehearsal dinner 7 years ago. It's one of those joints that all the locals rave about, but reality falls short of the legend. For a steakhouse to throw an underdone steak back on the grill is nothing short of bullshit. I had to fire up the waitress to get the cook to agree to make me another steak from fresh. They did end up comp'ing me the steak, but that's not the point on a $20.00 steak.
I'm back on the road again tomorrow.
