Who the hell let me loose in the city???
Today was a bit of a lazy day. I have to wait around until tomorrow to get the new fridge installed so I decided to have a few sherbets and chill out in front of the idiot box.
I've been chatting with a good mate of mine (Doug) about updating my lenses now that I've got my new Canon digital camera body. I found a place here in Minneapolis (Minnesota) West Photo that would match the prices of our usual supplier so out came the checkbook and I'm now the proud owner of some new glass.
Its' not that there was anything too wrong with my old glass, I've had them for 5 years, it's just that my photography has progressed past the "happy snaps" stage and the new glass should give me a better range of shots.
I spent a few hours in downtown Minneapolis and a couple of things have struck me. On a Sunday, there were stores open, but no real attraction to get foot traffic flowing. A river also bisects Minneapolis and St Paul (hence the Twin Cities moniker) but from what I can see, there was nothing on this side of the river to attract locals or tourists alike. There is a park, but no cafe's, restaurants or places for people to mingle and hang out.
Maybe I hit downtown on a day when all the locals know that there is somewhere better to be, but it didn't seem to have a real people friendly feel to anything. Not that it was dirty or crime riddled or anything - just not user friendly.
Hopefully tomorrow will go smoothly with the Man Pad fridge installation as I'm ready to hit the road again.
