TRIP MILEAGE – 1775 miles or 2857 kilometres
After an evening hanging out with Vinny and another mate of mine - Anna, I was on the road and headed through Guadalupe Mountains National Park, with the aim of parking up in Carlsbad for the night.
Today would also be the only time, outside of an International arrival/departure point that I'd ever been asked by Immigration and Naturalization Service agents for my documentation to be in the country. Admittedly I am a funny talker and it was the US Border Patrol Checkpoint, but it was in the middle of nowhere and 40 miles outside El Paso and I could look like a Mexican ... if you were drinking.
