DAY 7
Week 1
SEATTLE (Washington, USA)
Friday November 10th, 2000
TODAYS MILEAGE – 145 miles or 233 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 9479 miles or 15255 kilometres
Our first stop of the day was the as yet to be built Jimi Hendrix Memorial, which just so happens to be the final resting place of the rock icon.
Even though I'd visited the Museum Of Flight several time previously, we all went and checked out a lot of great displays including a SR-71 "Blackbird" and the first "Air Force One" Presidential plane. It's well worth the visit, if you're in the area.
Lunch was held at the second of three Hooters restaurants, just north of Seattle in the suburb of Lynnwood.
We continued on north to take in the Boeing Aircraft Factory Tour where 747's, 757's and the new 777's are constructed. One cool fact I learnt was that Boeing has the biggest shed in the world, at just over 95 acres (38 hectares) under one roof. The joint is HUGE!!!!
We had dinner at one of the wharfside restaurants, before we got a little lost on the way home. But not to worry, between the three of us, we managed to find the Tapps Island Tavern open at 10 o'clock at night. Not sure if thier clock was broken, but apparantly we ended up leaving the place a 3:30 AM after it closed at 2:00 AM.
