Salamanca Markets began in the early 1970's and have since become both and weekend institution for Hobart locals, but also a major attractions for visitors.
In fact, the markets have grown from the initial 12 stalls in 1972 to over 300 currently, becoming Tasmania's most visited tourist venue attracting up to 25,000-40,000 visitors every Saturday.
