I borrowed a mates Ford XD Falcon and trailer and loaded my Honda XR250 to take on a Christmas excursion.

Where am I???
I traveled along the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges to the small settlement of Ross River, 87 km (55 miles) east of Alice Springs.
Christmas 1991 was spent in and around this cabin.
The cabin was one of several offered by Ross River Resort.
The cabins were quite reasonable, even though you had to share with the local wildlife. In this case it was a Gecko.
As I said, they weren't real big, but they were air-conditioned and comfortable. |
Camel rides were optional.
You had to be alert while driving as calving season was in full swing. As you can see, they are hard buggers to find.
This is the entrance way to one of the gorges.
Look out, nature shot.
Fancy leaving a perfectly good working woman out here!
Strolling around in the scrub again.
Out on the XR.
I got dressed in "Territory Tuxedo" (jeans & a T-shirt) for dinner.
Dinner time!
chillin'! |
Get the $%@& out of here with that camera.
Wild camels on the move.
The baby camel seems to be delighted on going for a stroll with it's mum.
Christmas dinner. It was a pig on the spit and no, it was not the baby camel.
Pink cockatoo's, more commonly called "Galah's" squawking in a gum tree.
White cockatoo's, better known as Major Mitchell's, living in some of the huge bird cages at Ross River.
"Pssst. Want to hear a secret?"
Yeah like want my photo taken!
