PLIMOTH PLANTATION
The "Nor'easter" Trip
Thursday May 27th, 1999
We found out about Plimoth Plantation after visiting Plymouth Rock - where the pilgrims aboard the Mayflower purportedly first landed on US soil in 1620.
Plimoth Plantation was founded in 1947 and is operated as a living history museum, that shows the original settlement of the Plymouth Colony established in the 17th century by English colonists, some of whom later became known as Pilgrims. They were among the first people who immigrated to America to avoid religious persecution and to seek religious separation from the Church of England.
The re-creations are sourced from a wide variety of first and second records, accounts, articles, period paintings and artefacts. We both agreed that it was well worth the morning we spent exploring the venue.
