Monumento a Colón

The El Monumento a Cristóbal Colón de la Ciudad de México (Christopher Columbus monument) was dedicated in 1877 and depicts Columbus lifting his hand to the horizon, in the direction of the city centre.
At his feet and on the sides of his quarried pedestal are the statues of Fray Pedro de Gante, Bartolomé de las Casas, Fray Juan Pérez de Marchena and Fray Diego Deza.
