Iglesia de San Juan Bautista
Friday March 29th, 2019
The Iglesia de San Juan Bautista (San Juan Bautista Catholic Church) was founded in the 15th century and whose monks spent the best part of 30 years building the Convent, the temple and the orchard of San Juan Bautista, which covered an area of almost 20,000 m² of what is currently the park of Coyoacán.
The original church consisted of three naves; the largest and highest was located in the centre, with the choir and presbytery being separated from the main nave. The church was rebuilt in 1804 and remodelled from 1926 to 1947, but apparantly it has not lost any of its exterior or interior features.
