ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

The "African Adventure" Trip

South Entrance

Saturday November 26th, 2016

Our first stop for the day was the South Entrance of Etosha National Park and it'd be fair to say that there was a fair amount of excitement and anticipation in the truck, as people were hoping to see their respective African animals of choice.

The 22,270 kmĀ² (8,600 sq mi) national park was proclaimed a game reserve on March 22nd, 1907 and received full national park status in 1967.

Etosha gets its name from the large Etosha Pan which is almost entirely within the park. The pan measures 130 kilometres (81 miles) in length, 50 kilometres (31 miles) in width in places and covers 4,760 square kilometres (1,840 sq mi) which is nearly a ¼ of the total area of the national park.
