22nd WORLD GOLDEN OLDIES RUGBY FESTIVAL

Christchurch, Canterbury Region, New Zealand

FESTIVAL ACTIVITY DAY

DAY 5

Thursday April 26th, 2018

My rib injury pain and associated breathing difficulties from yesterday's match, had me tossing & turning for most of the night with zero sleep. By 3AM I'd had enough and decided to grab a cab down to the Christchurch Hospital, seeking relief. 3 hours later and with pain killers in hand, I headed back to the hotel with freshly diagnosed two broken ribs, that were broken in two separate places each. Apparently, I don't do things by ½ measures.

Every Golden Oldies rugby festival has an organised 'Activity Day' and this year it was a visit to the spa/resort town of Hanmer Springs, which a few of stayed at earlier in the week. Prior to landing in New Zealand, I decided that I wasn't attending as it really didn't interest me. The daytrip was even less appealing when factoring in spending nearly 3 hours each way, bouncing around in a bus nursing busted ribs, so I opted to occupy myself by exploring the city of Christchurch on foot.

As with every Dingoes trip I've been on, there's the traditional Team Dinner and by 7 o'clock we had our Hertz 'loser cruiser' 12 seater Toyota HiAce Commuter mini bus shuttling the crew out to the Tavern Harewood, which proved to be a top-notch choice of venues.

Most of the comments on the way home, were that the crew had a great night out and were impressed with the food and service at the Tavern, which led to me posting this TripAdvisor Review.
