G'day

As spelt out on the front page, this is the 4th and final update to the "Gruesome Twosome" tour that both KW and myself went on, back in July. As a mark of respect, I'd like a moments silence to mark the passing of such an event. OK, that's enough.

As I've said earlier, the highlights of the trip for me were hooking up with my mates, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, scuba diving and taking an optic nerve at the countryside. Unfortunately this will probably be the last trip I'll be taking to Australia for a while, unless I'm mentioned in some rich bastards will. I've decided that I want to take a look at Africa, China, Russia and South America while I still can, so I'm in the process of planning a trip to South Africa next year. If you have any ideas, drop me an email.

As some of you are aware, I currently coach and play for the 43rd State Crimson Lions Rugby Union Club. Things have come a long way in 20 years since I was a 150 pound pimply-faced little shit, playing on the wing to a 240 pound 2nd rower, who struggles to run out of sight on a dark night. I still get all fired up about playing, but I'm really start enjoying the game for what it is. Must be something to do with getting old.

The Lions travelled for about three hours down to the Southern Idaho town of Pocatello for a tournament over the weekend. I was quite pleased with what we done as a team. It was good to see a lot of the stuff that I was working on at training coming out and being put to use on the field. The tournament served a couple of purposes, it was used as a yard stick to see just where our training efforts needed to be focused as well as to see what positions we can put the players in. We came away from the weekend with a win and a loss, some sunburn, a few hang overs and a better understanding of what we've got, but more importantly, what we've got to work on. We still have a long way to go, but we're a little further along that what I was expecting, which is

Anyways, I had better go and leg it as I've got a heap to do, so until next time.

Stay Happy ;-)
