Traffic was getting worse the more we ventured into Europe. Surprisingly the truck drivers were extremely courteous everywhere we went.

Most of the streets in Amsterdam front onto a dyke or have tram tracks running down them.

If you look at the top of the buildings, you'll see a pulley. People still use these to winch up their furniture and belongings.

Amsterdam is a pretty compact city.

This is the hotel we stayed in. It was described in the guide books as 3 star. The only 3 stars you got, was when you hit your head on the low door frames.

3 star hotel. Nice modern decor, en suite bathroom, chocolates on your pillow. Yeah right !!! Dreams ARE free.

Who needs the chocolates when we found three "joints" in our bed. All rolled nicely, with filters and everything.
