Thursday May 3rd, 2018

TODAYS MILEAGE – 359 miles or 578 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 4,495 miles or 7,234 kilometres

Today started a lot earlier than expected for a few of us. Josie's health had been deteriorating steadily since we left Christchurch which culminating with Sharon waking me up at 1:30AM, for the van keys to take Josie to the hospital.

With Josie all sorted with the best medical expertise the town had to offer - ET, Trina, Sharon & myself wandered across the street at 7AM to the local bus stop for Southern Discoveries day trip out to Milford Sound.

I'm not sure if it was a combination of the 5 hour each-way bus trip, with only an hour and a half catamaran boat ride on the Fiord that included a so/so buffet lunch, but in all honesty, I struggled to see how Milford Sound is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination, with Rudyard Kipling having previously calling it the eighth Wonder of the World.

After stopping to pick up some stranded passengers from another tour company's broken down vehicle, we got back into our digs around 8PM and opted for some "dago damper" from Hell Pizza.

On the bright side, it was great to see that Josie was looking and sounding a whole lot better for her hospital visit.
