It was historically known as "Plaza de San Miguel", in reference to the primitive church of San Miguel that originally occupied part of the space of the current square. The temple was demolished in 1532 to allow the widening the area, which now forms the current Plaza Mayor.
Plaza Mayor prvided a great backdrop to grab to eat at La Concepción.
