Greeting & Salutations Culture Vultures,

It's be fair to say that the Alice Springs Dingoes had a good hard go at the 19th Annual World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival in Fukuoka, Japan.

From a team perspective, we managed to pick up an award at the Official Closing Ceremony. I also believed that we acquitted ourselves well, both on and off the field. We had a shit load (yes, that is an official measurement) of laughs, a couple of injuries and by all accounts, it seems that hell of a good time was had by all.

For me personally, this was the 5th Rugby Festival that I've participated in. The touring party seems to go from strength to strength, least of which some of the mischief we get up to and for my mind, always a highlight is the meeting of new people - which combine to make it all a great time.

As with any touring party "road rules" are in effect, which means that I do not want to get “smashed like Shazza” in the fines department. Suffice to say, there's always a lot of things happening on a trip and this was no different.

After this trip, I have a whole new appreciation for "immersing oneself in the local culture", "chatting with the Hendrick's fellow", how all of your senses are overwhelmed when entering a Pachinko hall and just how big Stumpy was in Japan.

As with most outings like this, it really is the people you are travelling with that makes the trip, this trip being no exception – I can’t wait for the next one

See youse in South America.

Enjoy the trip – as I certainly did!
