TWEED HEADS (New South Wales, AUS)
Checking out SURFERS PARADISE & SNAPPER ROCKS (Queensland, AUS)

Monday September 20th, 2010

TODAYS MILEAGE – 43 miles or 69 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 1177 miles or 1894 kilometres

Grey skies, drizzling rain and cold temperatures greeted us again today. No chance of going out for a surf, as it's so cold you'd have to shove a pencil up your arse to get your wedding tackle out. Rather than simply give up, I took Jungle over to Snapper Rocks and Kirra Beach, before driving up the coast to Surfers Paradise.

Once we got there, we decided to go check out the Q1 building, which is the tallest residential tower and the 20th tallest building in the world. We found out, quite by accident, that if you go to the hotel reception, they will sell you a ticket to the Observation Deck for $14.00 as opposed to the $20.00 if you go directly to the ticket office. Your ticket also lasts 14 days, as opposed to a single visit, so it was a great find.

Getting up on the Observation Deck, on the world's fastest elevator, you are met with truly spectacular views, even if it was overcast, as the photos will prove.

As our hosts, Sianne & Josh are just starting out in their new house, on the way back Jungle and I decided to chip in and get them a Easy Cook Oven as a thank you/house warming gift.As Sianne was at work and would probably appreciate a home cooked meal when walking through the door, us three blokes decided to give the new culinary addition a whirl.

Josh downed the paint brushes, picks up the recipe book and whips up some filo wrapped chicken breast Florentine's accompanied by an egg fettuccine pasta carbonara ... with a little help and guidance — brilliant. Couldn't eat all of it as it was so filling and totally "moreish".
