We left Mary, Kealie and the kids around 9AM and pointed the Navara south towards Hervey Bay.
We decided to slip into Bundaberg to show Jungle its famous export – the Bundy Rum distillery, only to find not a soul in sight at 1 minute past 5 in the afternoon. Must be a union shop???
We lobbed up in Hervey Bay and were welcomed with a BBQ on the foreshore by couple of mates of mine from my home town — Doug & Denise Morris and their family, who were staying over at thier sister Josie's place. Now Doug & Denise are doin' it tough, as Doug puts it "we're 16 months into a 12 month roadtrip around Australia" and just happened to be in the area.
Josie welcomed us into her home and as we were ready to roll out our swags on the floor, we were a bit overwhelmed when she gave up her bed for us and camped on the lounge. Talk about over achieving on the hosting stakes.
