Fancy a drive in the country?

Easter public holiday is a 4 day weekend, when a fair majority of the locals head for all points of the compass. I was no different.

I hadn't seen my brother Frank (we all call him Chook) in a few years, so I headed out West from Townsville on the all day journey to Mount Isa. It's only 903 kilometres (561 miles) but with the stupid 110 kilometre an hour (70 mph) speed limits, it makes it an all day trip. Why they have it at that slow pace is beyond me, as the is absolutely nothing out there.

As you can see from the photo's, the colours of the countryside are outstanding and change all the time.

Truth be told, Mount Isa isn't the end of the earth, but on a good day you can see it from there. Having the stack of the smelter billowing out clouds of unknown nasties into the atmosphere - from the middle of downtown, does nothing for pleasing the ascetics of the town. Chook, his wife Jody and their two kids love it, so who am I to pass judgment on the town.

It'll be great to catch up with Chook and blow the froth of a couple with him.

Check ya later.

Stay Happy!
