Time to play Tommy Tourist guide for the day!!! Be Happy

I think we got back to the Hilton Palacio del Rio around 2 o'clock this morning and checked the back of our eyelids for holes until about 8AM.

Having had a great feed at Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery the last time I was in San Antonio (Texas), it wasn't a hard sell to get Jordi to have a crack at their tucker.

The plan for the day was to scoot on down to Corpus Christi (Texas) for a butchers hook, get a bit of dinner down by the waters of the Gulf Of Mexico and head back to San Antonio as a day trip.

The two hour trip down to the coast was filled with tales, trivia and talk that only comes from a couple of mates, who havn't seen each other in over 12 years.

Jordi's observations on Corpus Christi mirrored mine in that the town is way under developed for a coastal town and the development they've had seems to be a haphazard mish-mash effort. He hit the nail on the head when he said the joint reminded him of Port Augusta in South Australia. I've known the town as "Portable Gutter" and if you've ever been there you'd know why.

We got back into San Antonio and parked up at Rita's On The River for a spot of wildlife observation prior to dinner at the County Line BBQ.

Seeing as we had a fair time at Mad Dogs last night, we stopped in there for a beer. They had a DJ in there who was shite, so we hit the riverwalk looking for a live band. Pat O'Brian's is touted as a party bar, but was pretty ordinary to say the least. The biggest disappointment was the much hyped Coyote Ugly bar. It was basically a sheila line dancing on the bar, with 30 guys sitting like wallflowers ogling her. These dudes were creeping me out big time.

From there it was over to Howl At The Moon which wanted 5 bucks on a Thursday night, to sit in a near empty room. Not a real appealing thought for either Jordi or myself. We did settle for a couple of night caps at Swig Martini Bar and can recommend the place as pretty laid back and cool place to hang out in.

We made a quick pit stop at the Zen Ultralounge on the way back to the Hilton and not a word of a lie, we were the oldest people in there by a good 20 years - are we fast becoming old farts??? Be Happy

Will I feel as old in the morning???
