Back at the Alamo!!! Be Happy

It should have a taken only and hour to traverse the distance between Austin (Texas) and San Antonio (Texas), except for the small matter of a pile up on the freeway near the town of San Marcos (Texas). It looked particularly nasty as three trucks (one fridge pan and two tippers) rear ended each other and it looks as a couple of the drivers didn't fare to well. Hopefully that is not the case.

I thought I'd splurge a little bit for the first time on this trip, so I searched the internet and got a great deal on what is rated as one of San Antonio's premier hotels, the Emily Morgan Hotel, which is situated right next door to The Alamo. At a rack rate of $159.00 per night (I paid $89.00), I would have say that the hotel does not represent good value for your money.

I expected a bit more for my money. Paying $20.00 a day for parking is part of the norm now adays, I don't know why as people do not walk up to a hotel these days, but asking $10.00 a day for internet access is ridiculous. Add to this the fact that room size would have been put to shame by an average sized elevator and you can see why couldn't see the value for money.

After spending a bit of time nosing around The Alamo for the second time in a week, it was over to Mad Dogs for a couple of sherbets before dinner. We ran into a fellow 2nd rower from Hershey (Pennsylvania) there on his Pat Malone needless to say it didn't take long to get on the boo hiss together.

As part of the aforementioned splurge, it was decided that Landry's Seafood House would be the place to give the plastic a work out. I had an awesome meal consisting of the Oyster Feast platter to start with, then the Snapper Hemingway as the main course. I was as full as fat ladies sock by the end of it. Yeah, between us we spent about $60.00 a head for dinner, but it was well worth it.

With dinner done, it was back to the hotel to grab the camera and get a couple of photos of the Alamo at night, before hitting the fart sack.

Today's photos are pretty explanatory, so I won't bother boring y'all with commentary.

Tomorrow it's down to the gulf.
