DAY 16

Week 3

SOMERS BAY (Montana, USA)

Thursday July 6th, 2006
TODAYS MILEAGE – 0 miles or kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 1783 miles or 2870 kilometres

"Veg out" day today.

After all the goings-on of yesterday, it was unanimously decided that today would be spent taking it easy.

Gump took the Hobbi Cat out to assess if there was any damage from last nights storm. He was out about an hour and a half and alls well. Zan, Sharilee and the kids took off to organize Grandpa Jim's birthday gathering for later in the evening.

I gave Gump a hand getting the Hobbi Cat onto shore, as dry land was the best option because there were storms predicted for this afternoon as well. We also set off to Costco to get some of my photos blown up for Zan, Shelly and Sharilee and to gather some material for a mooring point for the boats.

One trash can, ten feet of three-eights inch chain, three pieces of reo rod and two hundred pounds of qwik set concrete should do the trick. It looked lie a scene from the Soprano's.

On the way back to Somers Bay, we managed to stop for a quick beer or 4 at the Moose's Saloon in downtown Kallispell (Montana). Gump knew it from the drinkups when playing against the Kallispell Moose. It's one of those old time dark, dingy bars with sawdust on the floor and a barman who got a word for everyone and $2 pints from the tap.

IMHO - great pub, so check it out if you're ever in the area.Be Happy

All the rellies gathered around 6PM for a feed of ribs & all the fixin's in honour of Grandpa Jim. Presents were opened, toasts were toasted and cake was devoured. The evening ended sipping Brandy while participating in a girls vs boys game of Trivial Pursuit. The girls won, but Gump answered most of their questions in his capacity of "token female making up the numbers". Him being neutered may have had something to do with it as well. Be Happy

No photos to upload today, so I toddled off to bed around 11:30.
