DAY 6

Week 1

VANCOUVER (Washington, USA) to SEATTLE (Washington, USA)
via MOUNT ST HELEN (Washington, USA)

Thursday November 9th, 2000
TODAYS MILEAGE – 304 miles or 489 kilometres
TRIP MILEAGE – 9334 miles or 15022 kilometres

It was during the huge $10.00 breakfast at Fatty Patty's that could have fed an army, we had settled on the plan of visitng Mount St Helens on our way in to Seattle.

How's the saying go "the best laid plans of mice and men"? The further we drove in to Mount St Helen's, the more snow, ice, slushy and slippery roads got, and even with the poor ol' Toyota Camry trying it's hardest to mimic a snow mobile, it was just too dangerous to continue. With barely eight miles to go, of reaching our intended destination, we turned around and headed in the direction of Hooters in Seattle for late lunch.

As were were literally walking distance from the Space Needle, so when in Rome ..... aside from the brilliant views overlooking the city of Seattle, we were also treated to spectacular a gorgeous sunset out over Puget Sound.

Home for the night was at the generosity of another mate of mine - Denny, who's place out at on Tapps Island, overlooks the iconic Mount Ranier.
