We were just trundling around Maynard when Ruth decides to visit the headquarters of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), subdequently purchased by Compaq in 1998, who in turn were purchased by Hewlett-Packard in 2002.
The significance of DEC was that it was the hardware platform of choice for those operating in the VAX / VMS environment.
